Every Racine Unified School District kindergartner will visit River Bend Nature Center during the month of October, for the “Nature’s Palette” field trip program. During their visit, the children will practice observation skills on a hike in which they are guided to discover and explore the natural environment.
Our teaching model stresses true experiential learning and encourages every child to investigate and participate in hands on activities. Such experiences in nature provide not only an age appropriate introduction to the principals of environmental science, but also provide benefits of increased observation skills, attention spans, social skills and physical and mental wellness. The program curriculum is linked with Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core. This district wide opportunity is made possible through the support and partnership of River Bend Nature Center, Modine, Potpourri Garden Club and the Racine Unified School District.
